Confirmation is a two year journey for young people primarily in grades 7 and 8 to deepen their faith and belong more fully to their faith community. The program includes regular meetings, small groups, retreats, service events, interfaith fields trips, and a mission trip. Confirmation meets from 6-8 pm on the second and fourth Sunday nights each month (at St. Michael in the fall and Advent after January 1).
High School Youth Group is for youth in grades 9-12 who want to be who they are, belong to a faith community, and explore who they are in Christ. Sunday Night Study Breaks on the second and fourth Sunday of the month (6-8 pm)are opportunities for youth to meet, relax, have fun, and be themselves in a Christian environment. Students interested in deepening their faith can participate in small group ministries. Lock-ins, special speakers, vocation planning events, service events, and a summer mission trip round out the program.
Be who you are.
We welcome all youth. Athletes. Musicians. Actors. Advanced Placement. Any placement. College-bound. Vocational school-bound. People of color. LGBTQIA. Extroverts. Introverts. Nerds. Geeks. Cool kids. And many others. This is a place where you can be you; you don't have to check your brain, your heart, your emotions, or any part of yourself at the door.
Belong to a faith community.
In a social-media driven world, it can be hard to know where you belong. This is a safe space where we can be together, especially when together means different opinions, different backgrounds, and different lifestyles, and also forgiveness, mercy, and grace. Here, you are loved.
Become who God made you to be.
Young people today can feel pulled in a million directions. Everyone has an opinion about who you should be, what you should do with your life, where you should go to college, what you should wear, and what music you should listen to. The Old Testament prophet Elijah got that, too. After delivering an amazing defeat to the prophets of the false god Ba'al he was done. He ran away. But God took care of him: fed him in the dessert and took him to a quiet place. There, God was a still, small voice that help him take the next faithful step in his life. This is a place for you to explore the big questions of life: Who am I? Where do I fit? What different do I make?
